Dear District 5010 Rotarians,

Our District Conference will be held on June 12-13, 2009, and the Assembly will be held on June 11, at the lovely conference facility, Sosnovka, near Novosibirsk. I encourage each of you to attend the conference and celebrate the Rotary year 2008-2009 with me and Vivian. At this conference, the selection of the Russian leader who will begin training to lead the new Russian District will be announced. There will be excellent speakers including Past District Governors Carolyn Jones, Lloyd Morris, and Jack Randolph. There will be many programs including talks about Public Relations, Grants, Orphan Act, and the Open World. There will be Rotarians from North American clubs of District 5010, and from clubs in many other Districts in USA who will be attending both the Conference and the Russian/American Inter Country Committee annual conference which immediately follows the District conference at Sosnovka. This will be an opportunity to talk to North American Rotarians about doing matching grants and various exchanges. This will be our opportunity to learn about and to recognize Russian Rotarians and clubs for the wonderful work and projects that are being accomplished.

The United States � Russia Intercountry Committee was chartered at Rotary Headquarters in June, 2007. Since that time this ICC has grown to be the largest Intercountry Committee in the Rotary world with Rotary districts representing over one third of the United States and all of Russia.

While this ICC is still in its formative stages, it is felt that the joint activities pursued by the 14 member districts offer great opportunities for collaboration between the districts from the two countries. Some of the planned activities of the organization will include joint projects, friendship and professional exchanges, expansion of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Group Study Exchanges and annual meetings that will rotate between the two countries.
