School of guest families is a monthly course for adults who for various reasons are not ready to adopt or care for orphans, but have a big desire to help children from Orphan homes to be prepared for an independent life after leaving children's homes, to socialise, gain experience of life-planning, household skills. It is a course of theoretical and practical lectures, psychological trainings which are carried out by experts, working with children-orphans. You can get more details about this project here. The school has been organised by financial support of Rotary club "Novosibirsk-Initiative". We wish "SibMama" and its president Alexandra Marovaja every success in future!

These time as recipients for targeted support children from the Orphan home 39 for visually impaired children have been chosen. As a continuation of the Vision Quest project "Open heart" party has helped to conduct operations on the eyes for two inmates of children's home. "Open heart-5" has become the most successful project in its history, net profit from its realization has made up 92 350 roubles.

From October the 9th till October 17th on the basis of public organisation "Novosibirsk Regional Chess Federation" SFD chess championship among veterans took place. The prize of 14000 roubles was provided by Rotary Club "Novosibirsk-initiative". Congratulations to the winners!

On the basis of "Chess sports school for children" (Cheljuskintsev st., 50) two-day checkers and chess tournament among inmates of children's homes located in Novosibirsk has been conducted. 50 children from 8 children's homes took part in the tournament. By results of the tournament winners have received cups, medals, diplomas, and, of course, gifts.

As organizers of the holiday acted: Fund of celebration of the 80 anniversary of October district support, Group of companies "Arhipov and Rebekka". The holiday has been organised with support of Novosibirsk City hall, Committee on culture of Novosibirsk and other bodies of Russian cities.
The club was provided with a tent on embankment territory. Members of the club have carried out competitions for inmates of children's homes. All participants of competitions have received prizes. During the holiday members of the club have been selling cards. Money raised from this sale will be spent on Vision Quest implementation.

Participants of the project are Rotary club "Novosibirsk-Initiative", "Avtobratstvo". Clubmen's friends and colleges helped with collecting computers which have already been in the use. From a number of details members of "Avtobratstvo" together with members of our club assembled 6 good computers, which were given to the Moshkovsky auxiliary boarding school of the eighth type. Computers were connected in a local network. In the day of computers' installation, almost all members of the club arrived to the Moshkovsky boarding school and invited there folk instruments group "Lad". The great concert took place. Congratulations! In the nearest future new president will define club's goals for 2007/2008.

The decision on Denis's membership in the Paul Harris Fellowship was made unanimously with the wording "For outstanding service in club's organisation and development". Solemn presentation of the medal and confirming documents took place during ceremony of handing the Charter to our club "Novosibirsk-Initiative" and was conducted by 2006/2007 district governor 5010 Gayle Knepper.

In the ceremony rotarians from 25 Rotary clubs of District 5010 have taken part - a total of 51 people. During the ceremony members of the club presented the report on implemented club's projects to visitors and also told about planned Vision Quest project, received many pleasant congratulations and gifts.
In the afternoon on the 30th of May bus excursion across Novosibirsk for guests of the ceremony was organised. They also visited Children's home 39 for children with impaired vision, which inmates gave a small concert for our visitors. On May, 31st departure of visitors to the district 5010 conference on camping site Stick Travel in Gorny Altai was organised.

The teachers were deeply touched. It was decided to encourage the children who had made the art articles. Part of the money will be spent on buying equipment and materials for the art studios of the school. For the rest of the money a digital camera will be bought.

The members of the Rotary Club from all over Siberian region (Omsk, Barnaul, Biysk, Chita and others) came to take part in the seminar for next year club presidents. There were also Americans among the participants: governor of the county 2007-2008 Maynard Gross and governor 2008-2009 Clyde Boyer. The seminar was based in 'Sibir' hotel.
The Rotary Club 'Novosibirsk-Initiative' organized for the participants of the seminar an entertainment programme in the night club 'Alpen Grott'. During the party there was held a charity auction to sell the art articles made by the inmates of Orphan's Home � 39 for children with poor eyesight. The proceeds from this auction totaled 23,600 roubles.

The club continued helping Misha Gurchenko, who was operated on several times in November 2006 to remove brain aneurism. 15,000 roubles for taking rehabilitation treatment and buying medicines was handed over to Misha's mother.
What's more the club bought 2 hearing-aids and handed them over to the children suffering from loss of hearing.

8 participants of the project were invited for the interview in the American embassy in Moscow. One can't say that the interview was held in warm and friendly air, but the invitations from governor of County 5010 as well as Rotary International were of decisive importance. All the participants of the Vision Quest Project got their visas.

The meeting was in warm atmosphere and consisted of two parts: educational and entertaining. In the first part, mostly devoted to career-guidance, the members of the club told the children about an opportunity to get higher and professional education in different institutes of Novosibirsk. Besides there were given several interesting reports on Rotary and the activity of our club, atomic physics and decision-making methods.
The club presented the school with a booster, speakers and a couple of microphones for school activities as well as globes and compasses for Geography lessons. At the end of the meeting there was a traditional Russian table.

This trip became possible thanks to the realization of the 'Post cards' project, being held together with the American colleagues. 4 girls from a distant village Alexandro-Nevskoye of Ubinsky district got an opportunity to have a good rest on their winter holiday and communicate with children of their age not only from Novosibirsk, but also from the USA. For the children who have visited the camp the trip has become a real highlight of their lives. They got a lot of new impressions communicating with the American guides and Russian children of the same age. They showed their talents in a full way and deserved gratitude from all the campers of 'Sunny Studio'.

Our club has seen the Old Year off with a lot of walks in the fresh air, intellectual games, laughter and jokes, shashlik and red wine. And now it is seeing in the New Year, full of plans and hopes.
